Our rule of thumb is... "If you can't play baseball in it, then we do not move in it." Please remember we go by what we see outside and the local radar. We all know that in Texas the weather is difficult to predict! We don't want to get behind on our schedule or inconvenience our customers. However, we want to keep our crew safe and your belongings dry and damage free!]]><![CDATA[Insured]]>Tue, 06 Mar 2012 19:02:52 GMThttp://asharpmoving.com/moving-packing--storage-tips/insured-bondedWhen you ask if a moving company is insured make sure you know what you are really asking them. They can reply yes-- but is that really all you need to know about the company? No... you need to know that they are a licensed moving company with the state their business is based in or the United State Dept of Transportation (if you are moving across state lines). Having a valid and current MOVING LICENSE means that they are carrying the proper types and amounts of insurance required by the issuing state. Be sure to call and verify the moving license number because the license could have been an old number, someone else's number, or revoked. This is the first step to protecting you against fraudulent moving companies. The standard liability in the state of Texas for a moving company is 0.60 per pound per article. ]]><![CDATA[Selecting a Moving Company]]>Mon, 16 Jan 2012 18:47:32 GMThttp://asharpmoving.com/moving-packing--storage-tips/selecting-a-moving-companyWhen selecting a moving company, always try and get at least two to three estimates. There are several moving companies that claim they are legal, but do not take their word for it! Always ask for the company's TXDOT number and/or USDOT number. Then call the proper authorities to verify this information. The contact number for the State of Texas is 1-888-368-4689 or the web address is www.txdmv.gov. To reach the United State of Transportation call 1-800-832-5660 or visit www.fmcsa.dot.gov. There are several reasons for verifying a company's numbers: 1) if the company is not a registered/licensed mover you may have no way of tracking down this company once they have your goods 2) they may not have the proper insurance on their equipment and/ or your goods and 3) they may charge an extremely lower price which should be a red flag warning you that they are not a legal moving company because they don't pay the expenses associated with being legal.
